Project "Health promotion guide"
Project Title
Method Handbook for Workplace Health Promotion
Abstract
The research institute abif accomplished a set of projects in the past years in the field of vocational rehabilitation, which clarified the importance of preventive acting for the effective promotion and sustainment of the employees in their professional life.
On behalf of the Public Employment Service Austria (AMS) abif is compiling a handbook for the promotion of the employees’ sustainment in their professional life.
A goal of the handbook is it to provide an overview on methods and instruments of the preventive labour policy and health care.
Against the background of the fact that a substantial portion of the physical and psychological illnesses and/or disadvantages are conditioned or at least caused by work itself - estimations go here from up to 30% -, the method handbook should supply a contribution to the operational quality assurance, by presenting a comprehensive picture of health promotion on the job and at the same time by providing ideas and suggestions for implementation.
The manual is up to both primary prevention (promotion and maintenance of health and/or prevention of an illness), and secondary prevention (prevention of progressing of an existing illness) and makes thus an important contribution to the employees’ sustainment and their ability to work.
The handbook is divided into three sections co-ordinated content wise one on the other, which deal with theoretical background, methods and practical examples.
This publication aims at both a sensitization of public consciousness for prevention and at assistance during the implementation of operational and job market-political prevention measures.
In this sense the handbook addresses employees, employers, labour market political actors and specialists within the field of prevention who are interested in this topic.
