Project "New employment forms"

Project Title

The satisfaction, income situation and job perspectives offered by new employment forms in Vienna

Abstract

Current research findings supply references on the fact that at the moment the entire federal territory registers a strong erosion of normal employer-employee relationships. This process bears a set of social risks, but in addition it brings new vocational chances and individual free spaces.

Due to the concentration of the new employment forms in urban areas, one should ask which current developments are on hand and which are the social and economic implications they bring along in Vienna, a constantly growing sector of the employment system. A special interest in this connection is attached to the technology sectors, the cluster of the Creative Industries as well as to the sector of the company-oriented services as emphasis field of the Viennese economic policy. The project provides an overview over existing research results and data. The current status quo of new employment forms as well as their development and future trends are described based on prepared profile data of the federation of the social security institutions for Vienna and the whole Austria.

Subsequently a representative survey will be carried out in Vienna with new employment forms, in the course of which 800 persons will be questioned. The typology of new employment forms, resulting from the data analysis and quantitative questioning, is supplemented by qualitative data from eight case studies in enterprises, in which 28 interviews with personnel responsibles and employees are accomplished.
