Project "Handbook for Online Trainers"

Project Title

Handbook for (future) Online Trainers

Abstract

Trainers often articulate that they are having difficulty transferring their existing courses into the online space, that they do not know if they are fully exploiting the possibilities of online teaching and learning, or that the digitization of their training has led to problems that distract from the actual content. Nervousness about online teaching-learning units, or even aversion to online tools, can self-evidently be exacerbated by the fact that many trainers had to make a very sudden switch to digital training in the wake of covid-19-related restrictions starting in March 2020, while often suffering personally, professionally, and financially from the pandemic.

This change was by no means a challenge only for less experienced trainers, but also for those who already have experience with the conception, preparation, implementation and evaluation of a further education program or similar course measures: When implementing digitally supported courses, there are a few key points to keep in mind. This applies both to cases in which such a digitized measure is created from scratch and to those in which an already existing training is to be transferred into the digital space. Of course, there are no patent remedies for the creation of online or blended courses - however, the handbook for online trainers provides compact information, suggestions and pointers on the topic of online teaching, online learning and online collaboration, in keeping with the complexity of the subject matter. The handbook guides step by step through the preparation, implementation and follow-up of an online or blended training. Each chapter includes theoretical basics ("What is there to know?") as well as practical exercises and resources ("How can I put this into practice?").
