Project "Migrant women"

Project Title

Migrant women: information – activation – integration

Abstract

The project Migrant women: information – activation – integration aims at making a substantial contribution to the successful professional future of migrant women in Austria. It is intended to prepare the participants for entering the labour market by offering theoretical and practical training, personality development, job application training as well as the development of an intercultural community project. Another aim is to improve the general integration into Austrian society by increasing the participants’ self-esteem and self-confidence during the course. The ongoing evaluation will cover the implementation of this planned measure. The project will be carried out both in Eisenstadt and in Neusiedl am See in two runs each.

The accompanying study will determine the current situation at the beginning of the measure as well as find out about the expectations. In addition, an interim survey will be conducted after the first half of the course. At the end of the course, a survey of the participants and the trainers will be carried out.

The key questions of the evaluation include the following:

What are the obstacles that turn up when searching for a job? What aspects of the cultural background influence work/the job search? What influence do religious beliefs and ways of life have? What do the women migrants expect from participating in the course and what do they wish for? What do the participants think are their strengths and weaknesses during and at the end of the course? What do the trainers think are the participants’ biggest obstacles? What topics should be added, what should by all means be generally taken into account?
