Project "Migrants in Training"

Project Title

Participation of migrants in training offers

Abstract

In Germany and other European countries migrants are often excluded from existing training offers. The goal of the project was to prepare a common transnational inventory of existing training offers of the project partners and their countries, and to examine up to what extent migrants have access to these offers. The purpose of sharing this information on experiences is to shed light on the issue itself, on issues relating to labour markets in the participating countries, on integration policies and experiences in coping with intercultural conflicts and possible solutions.

A learning partnership is planned for the duration of two years: The first year will consist of an exchange of experiences between the participating institutions and organisations as well as an appraisal of the current situation. The second year is to focus on the conceptional development of new approaches aimed at creating conditions that promote the access of migrants to learning contents and methods that meet their needs.

The two-year partnership will be continued and expanded into the year 2003 as a European co-operation project within the framework of GRUNDTVIG 1, which offers the opportunity to intensify co-operation among partners and to test and implement the new approaches elaborated within the framework of GRUNDTVIG 2 for better training access conditions. The project partners are from the following countries: Germany, Italy, Iceland, Bulgaria.
